With a passion for people and a knack for the written word, Sharon Welch is one of the best in public relations and media communications. With expertise in Print and Broadcast journalism, Media Training and Sales, Sharon has garnered success in creating strong campaigns that position clients at the forefront of their particular industries.
Sharon graduated from York University in 1995 with a degree in Sociology. It was there she realized her potential in the area of communications and decided to pursue Journalism as a career. During her studies a tYork University, she became a writer for two newspapers; “The Jamaican Weekly Gleaner” and “Canadian Voices”. In 1998 she graduated from Hamilton Ontario’s Mohawk College, with a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism. During her time at Mohawk College, Sharon became co-host on Cable 14’s morning show “Daytime” where she interviewed guests from the local community and reported on events taking place around the city. After graduating from Mohawk College, she landed a job as News Writer and Entertainment Host for three stations, CFPL TV (The New PL), CKNX (The New NX) and CKWI (The New WI).
After over two years, she gained a vast amount of knowledge in the broadcasting field and turned her sights toTorontoand in the year 2000, became an Associate Producer for the CBC’s “NewsWorld Today”. In 2001 she became an Account Executive for Canada NewsWire working with such clients as CEO’s, Marketing Managers, and other Account Executives assisting them with their communications needs.
In 2004 Sharon realized her dream of operating her own freelance business as a publicist and began PUSH Communications Media Group, a public relations consulting company, specializing in media communications. She has worked with such businesses as Butler’s Photography and Alley’ne & Company, and Beamax , and Vibe Gospel Music producers of the Shai Awards, Shine TV aired on the Sun TV Network (formerly Toronto One) along with people such as Senior Pastor Orim Meikle for Rhema Christian Ministries, House of Levi, Gospel Music Artists Amoy Levy, Kathy Grant Mahon, and JUNO Award Winner Greg Sczebel.
Sharon Welch has quickly gained the reputation within the gospel community as having an eye for a good news story and a flare with the media. She is currently the Director of Media Relations forRhemaChristianMinistries. Her motto; “Change your thinking and you can change your life”.
Currently, Sharon is the Vice President of a company called Socially Yours – a communications agency located in HamiltonOntario, www.sociallyyours.ca . She also contributes to two blog sites Socially Yours and Women of Destiny. She continues to work with many clients who need assistance with their communications.
