Since coming to Canada in 1973 from the U.S I’ve only lived in the province of Ontario: Toronto and now Ottawa. I was born in South Africa which I was compelled to leave in 1964. There (in S.A) I was an anti-apartheid journalist. I entered the US in 1964 for study. When I arrived in Canada in 1973, with support of the UN Association (Toronto), I produced Athol Fugard’s play “Boesman and Lena” to commemorate the Sharpeville (S.A.) massacre of 1960. Three years later I managed to publish the anthology “Canada in us now”. Before the anthology I published a chapbook titled “Bushman’s Brew”. — Harold Head
